Winch Family - Myron Erwin Winch - page 6

In the mid 1960s, while my dad was working at PG&E, everyone who was coming closer to retirement age, had to prove their age.

Why did PG&E require this? A gentleman who worked there - not my dad - was supposed to retire.

The man answered that he wasn't old enough. PG&E said "Yes you are - it's based on the age you gave us when you came to work here."

The man answered "Oh that was based on the age I told the Army when I joined. I wasn't 18 I was 15!"

So everyone had to prove their age by getting a copy of their birth record.

Here is my Dad's original birth record:

When he asked his mother Emilly "What the Heck"! She never really said much more than "My sisters made me!"
