Winch Family - Albert Winch - Obituary - page 12
This is one of the first items that I found regarding Albert Winch's death. I found it on line. I do not remember when nor from whom. I do know that in the summer of 2012, Brian and I went on our first family history tour. We stopped at the Martin County Historical Society. They told me that the newspapers were in the closet [no door] in the room off the hall.
I went into the closet, and started to go through the papers. I knew when Albert had died. As I was turning the pages of the papers, I could tell that they were very delicate, almost cloth like. I did see this snippet in the original paper.
It reads:
Nashville News.
- No preaching on Sunday last.
- The wind and the shorn lamb have not been in harmony lately.
-Coal and wood make a heavy bill of expense. It is time to have a rest.
-Is it possible to find a weather prophet who will predict anything good?
-The Baptist Ladies' Mission society met with Mrs. S. Bacon on Thursday the 10th.
-The Free Methodist Q.M. will be held at the school house in district 20 near Mr. Goodriche's on the 3d, 4th, 5th6th of March.
- Albert Winch died on the 10th [inst] at his residence. He leaves a widow and nine children, and many friends to mourn his loss. He had been sick several months. His widow is a daughter of Mr. Geo. Vanamber, and sister of Mrs. J. J. Eygabroad. The following resolutions were passed by the F.B.L.M.S.
WHEREAS, in the province of God, Albert Winch has been removed from his family, therefore RESOLVED that we, the ladies of the Nashville Center Women's Mission Society do heartily extend our love and sympathy to our dear sister Harriet Winch in this severe affliction. RESOLVED further that we will try faithfully to show by every token possible in the future the heart-felt sympathy which fills our every heart for her in this trying experience, and pray God to help comfort and strengthen her for the arduous duties of caring for her little ones left without a father's care and commend her to Him who has promised to be a Father to the fatherless and the widows God. RESOLVED further that we send a copy of the resolutions to the bereaved family and a copy to the Free Baptist for publication, also to Fairmont Sentinel and Winnebago City Press-News.
