Sterns Family - Bartholomew Stearns - BMD

This is the descendent chart of Batholomew Stearns. I found it on Ancestry.com, 23 November 2023.

This document reads as: 

    Bartholomew Stearns was born 4 Aug 1742 in Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA [Massachusetts was still a British Colony when he was born.]

Bartholomew died on 11 Aug 1811. Mary (Raymond) was born on 10 May 1745 in Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA. [see previous comment.] Mary (Raymond) died on 7 Feb 1817 in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA. Bartholomew Stearns and Mary (Raymond Stearns established the homestead in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA on a grant given to John Stearns prior to 1758 for services in French War of 1690. This property situated south of the river was bisected by a road running from the Burying Ground north toward Rindge, Cheshire COunty, New Hampshire, USA. The road was accepted by the town in 1762 and is now called Hall's Road. The County Road from Ashburrnham, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; to Fitzwilliam, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA; also bisected the property, was accepted in 1784, and is now named Ash Street. The house which still stands was built at the corner of Hall Street and Ash Street. He was a farmer and a carpenter and was given a contract to build the first bridge across the river from what is now High Street to the north part of town, now Front Street. He also contributed towards the cost of the bee for the Old Centre church which now stands on the common. He served in the militia and went to Lexington Middlesex County,  Massachusetts, USA [see note above]. as a private under captain John Davis in the Minute Men and returned after 17-and-1/2 days. He also served with Colonial Benjamin Flagg's Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA [see note] Regement in March to Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA; in Aug 1777 to put down Indian uprising in the Revolutionary War. Bartholomew Stearns and Mary (Raymond) Stearns were buried in Old Centre Cemetery.

Five of their ten children were born in Winchendon, worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; the other 5 in Holden Worcester County Massachusetts, USA:

1.    Parmela (Stern) Boyntpn: Born on 23 Jan 1768, Married Jewett Boynton on 5 March   1786 in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.

2. Mary (Sterns): Born on 22 Jan 1770 in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.

3. Eunice   (Stearns) Prouty: Born on 23 Apr 1772 in Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; Married Seth Prouty on 2 Oct 1794 in Winchendon, Worcester Counnt, Massachusetts, USA.

4. Elizabeth (Stearns) [AKA: "Betty"]: Born on 20 April 1774 in Holden, Worcester  County, Massachusetts, USA.

5. Amos Stearns: Born on 11 Sep 1776 in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; Baptism- C. R. [birth]>

6. Bartholomew Jr. Stearns: Boron on 18 Sept 1778 in Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; Married Betsy (johnson) on 14 Apr 1808. Betsy was a daughter of Samuel Hojnson and Elizabeth Johnson, and a descendant of Isaac Stearns family. Batholomew Jr. died on 10 Apriil 1809 of a heart attack. Batholomew Jr. is buried in Old Centre Cemetery. Betsy married Levi Page of Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA on 10 Jun 1811.

        (a.) Elizabeth (Stearns) Foskett: Boron on 12 March 1809, Married Joel Foskett on 20 Feb 1827.

7. Tabitha (Stearns" Winch: Born on 2 Jan 1780 in Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA on 28 May 1801.

8. Levi Stearns: Born on 9 June 4 1782 in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.

9. Freeborn Stearns: Born on 24 Nove 1784 in Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; Married Clarrisa (Demary) of Dublin, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA in Dec 1809. Freeborn Stearns died on

 22 November 1869. He was a blacksmith and farmer of Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA. He served with rank of Captain in Militia. They had 14 children.

10,Asa Stearns: Born on 7 July 1788 in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; Married Mary (Temple) on 28 May 1811. Asa died on 5 Feb 1876 in Newport, Columbia County, Wisconsin, USA. Mary (Temple) was born on 27 Apr 1824 to John Temple in Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA. Mary (Temple) died on 17 Mar 1884. Asa and Mary were buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Columbia County, Wisconsin, USA.
