in History" by John M. Barry (Viking, 2004), This epidempic started in a Missouri barrack, often killing people within 24 hours.
The American GIs carried the flu to Europe, and the armed forces in Europe became infected, and then took it back to their home countries.
As noted on this "sick" log, Cecil was diagnosed with Influenza on 28 September 1918.
He was still sick with Influenza as of 11 October 1918.
