I herewith enclose the application of Mary Horton widow of Barnabas Horton for an increase of her pension under the Joint Resolv of Congress of July 1, 1848. Her husband was a pensioner under the act of March 18 1818 & May 1, 1820 at the rate of $96 per annum& his widow is entitled to the sum, she is now on a visit to one of her daughters in this state - Enclosed also is her Pension Certificate I have to request that another may be granted -

On this 18th day of July 1820, before the Circuit Court of Common Pleas for the Southern Circuit, proceeding according to the course of the common law with a jurisdiction unlimited in print of amount, having a power also fine and imprisonment, and keeping a record of their proceedings, personally appeared in open Court, being a court of record for the said County Barnabas Horton age 58 --- years, resident in Bridgewater - in said County, who being first duly sworn, according to law, doth, on his oath, declare that he served in the Revolutionary war as follows, viz. for the term of the three years service in Capt William Watson's Company Col. Henry Jackson's Reg Massachusetts line and that he has received a pension certificate dated 17th April 1819 and numbered 9477 in pursuance of his original Declaration made 1st April A.D. 1818--- and also takes and subscribes the following oath, vis. And I do solemnly swear --- that I was a resident citizen of the United States, on the 8th day of March, 1818; and that I have not, since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner, disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of act of Congress, entitled "An set to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States, in the Revolutionary war," passed on the 18th day of March 1818; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me, any property, or securities, contracts, or debts, due to me; nor have I any Income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and be me subscribed.
