Lord Family - Jonathan Lord - Revolutionary War Pension Records - Pages 7 - 14

on the eigth day of April in the years one thousand eight hundred & eighteen before me John Malley one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in & for the County of State aforesaid personally appears Jonathan Lord aged sixty six years & Eleven months, resident in the town of Luzane in the county & State aforesaid, who being by me first [?] sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the [?] made by the late act of congress, entitled, "an act to provide for certain persons Engaged in the land & seas Service of the United States in the revolutionary war - That he enlisted in the city of Albany in the state aforesaid , in the company commander by Captain Timothy Hughes & Col. Livingstons Regiment into the[?] of the United States in the year seventeen hundred and seventy six for the tern of three years, that he served the United States the said three years as a soldier, & at the expiration of which term of time he was discharged from service in Morristown in the state of Newjersey. that he was in the Battles of
Burguyne & [?] engagement and that he is in [?] circumstances, and stands in need of the assistance of his county for support & that he has no other evidence now in his possession of his said [?] -

I John Malloy one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in & for the County of Warren & State of Newyork, do testify that it appears to my satisfaction that the said Jonathan Lord [did] serve in the revolutionary war, as stated in the preceding declaration, against the common Enemy and I now transmit the preceeding and testimony taken & no before me to the Secretary for the Department of war [to the] [?] the aforementioned out of Congress -

[Tuesday] April 8th 1818    John Mallery Judge [?] I do [?] certify that I am acquainted with the circumstances of the said Jonathan Lord. and that he is in [?] & indigent circumstances and stands in need of the assistance of his county for support.

I certify that by letter Patent and Qualification Roll now [residing] in this office by which it appears that John Mallay whom signature appears on the written and foregoing affidavit & certificate was a Judge of the[court] of Common Pleas in & for said county on the 8th day of April 1818- and I further certify that I am acquainted with the said John Malloy & believe the foregoing to be [true].
In testimony whereof I have afixed the Seal of same court of Common Pleas to be here unto affixed this 14th day of April 1818

I MYRON BEACH, Clerk of the county of Warren,
{Seal} and of the court of Common Pleas, do hereby certify, That by Letters, Patent, and Qualification Roll, now in this office Henry Spencer before whom whose signature appers on the annexed affidavit & certificate made was on the date thereof, a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, in and for the county of Warren, and duly authorized, by laws of said state, to perform the duties therein mentioned; and that I am acquainted with the hand writing of the said Henry Spencer - and verily believe the signature of the said "Henry Specer" as - subscribed to the said affidavit and certificate - to be proper hand writing of the said Henry Spencer

        James Livingston aged seventy five years being sworn says that he has read the annexed affidavit of Jonathan Lord and that he this Deponent is the person there alluded to and anmed as Colo Livingston and that he this Deponent during the  time set forth in the said affidavit commanded the ==== regiment in the Newyork line of Troops in the Service of the United States. As Colonel of said Regiment, and that the facts set forth in the said affideavit as to the enlistment and service of the said Jonathan Lord in Capt Hughes Company in the said Regiment are in all aspects true and that in addition to the actions mentioned in said affidavit the said Lord was in the expedition at the time of the relief of Fort Stanwyt i Seventyseven, and was during the whole time of his service a good and faithfull soldier in the Service of his County

Certificate was made was on the date thereof one of the Judges of the Court of Common pleas in & for the County of  Warren and duly authorised by the laws of Said State to perform the duties of Judge aforesaid And I further certify that I acquainted with this hand writing of the Said Henry Spencer and verily believe the Signature of Henry Spencer as Subscribed to the Said affidavit and certificate to be the proper hand writing of the Said Henry Spencer.

    John Gates aged Sixty seven years being duly sworn says he has read the Annexed affidavits of Colo. James Livingston and Jonathan Lord and that he this deponent was ensign of Capt Hughis Company of Infantry alluded to and named in the said affidavit during the time therein se forth, and that the facts set forth ar to theenlistment and service of the said Jonsathan Lord in the said Company and Regiment are true and that the said Jonathan Lord was a good & faithful soldier untill honorably discharged to the best of my recollection & belief
