This is what you will see in the drop down:
Click on "Place" and enter where you want to search in. Enter the state, then the county, and last the town, township, or area. Click on Search.
I scrolled down and this is what I found:
I chose to look through the Probate Records that has 5 sets of documents. chose the "Estate records, No. 1-13, book of wills.
This led me to this page in FamilySearch.com. I then clicked on the orange rectangular box on the right, that reads
Browse all 14,045,639 Images.
These 2 lists are of the New York counties. Just scroll down to the county you want to research through. I clicked on Warren.
Because my ancestor died early on in the history of New York, I picked the entry "Estate records no date no[number] 1 - 159.
After scrolling through 440 pages I found:
Each set of estate records have a cover sheet for the individual who I was looking for! Hurray!!!!! The next 2 pages were dedicated to Jonathan Lord's probate paperwork. The first page talks about that Jonathan's date of date - 14 July 1828 in the town of Queensbury. He left no last will and Testament. The value of the estate did not exceed $80.00. His son Asa Lord was appointed administrator of the Goods and Chattels and Credits. Asa Lord - his son - was added to the end of the document on the 2nd page.
