In the Summer of 2012 Brian and I took a "Family History Tour Roadtrip".
We went north east through South and North Dakota and then on through Minnesota and down to Iowa.
Using the Internet we found Kiron Cemetery outside of the very small hamlet of Kiron, Crawford County, Iowa.
Following the directions we headed North and then turned East on a small dusty road. We could tell that there was a cemetery ahead.
We turned right, under the black metal sign, and drove about 20 feet in then stopped.
There were alot of graves. As I was rolling my window down I told Brian "it's going to be hard to find Albin and John."
I looked down and there to the right of our car was Albin's grave right alongside the road. John's grave was slightly above his and to the right.
John's headstone is simple:
JOHN T
JARL
1905 - 1918
I think that John was a victim of the 1918 Flu Pandemic. It affected his heart valves leading to his death.
